The Deacon Ministry of Mount Olive Baptist Church, serves the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church-doing the benevolence work, visting the sick, being alert to the spiritual needs of the congregation-for the purpose of freeing the pastor to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word, promoting unity within the church, and facilitation the spread of the Gospel. Under the leadership of the Pastor, the Deacons are serving in excellence of spirit, striving to meet the ever growing needs of the church and its ministries.
The word for "deacon" is the Greek word "deaconos," which can be translated as "servant," "minister," or "deacon." Upon recommendation by the Pastor and ordination for service, Deacons are elected to their office by the church.
The Deacon Ministry assists the Pastor, as requested, in promoting the spiritual growth and welfare of the members as well as the overall upkeep and operation of the church.
Assist in the observance of the odinances of the church.
Visitation of Sick and Shut-In Members.
Assist the Pastor in caring for the administrative needs of the church.
Provide assistance to the ministries of the church at the direction of the Pastor.
Provide for the pulpit and choose a moderation for church meetings in the absence of the Pastor or if the office of pastor is vacant.
Assume a role in the leading of worship services.
